Water-related Infrastructure

MEC’s extensive experience includes the construction of water/wastewater treatment plants, upgrades to ozone systems, networking systems, PLC panels and instrumentation, and installation of fiber optic cables. We provide small electrical system upgrades to complete installations at facilities constructed from the ground up. Crews can add to an existing system, or perform maintenance and upgrades to switchgear and distribution systems.

Our clients include municipalities, counties, state and federal agencies and private utilities. Our expertise and quality workmanship have won us repeat work with these clients.

El Pico Surface Water Treatment Plant

Laredo, Texas

The El Pico Surface Water Treatment Plant (SWTP) is a new 20MDG surface water treatment plant which extracts water from the Rio Grande River, and distributes the potable water to the City of Laredo, Texas. The plant has been engineered with an expandable infrastructure to eventually support up to an 80MGD capacity. Work began on the new plant in December 2011 and was completed in December 2013.

Bakersfield WWTP#3

Bakersfield, Calif.

MEC worked as a subcontractor to Kiewit Pacific Co. at the Bakersfield Water Treatment Plant (WWTP). The project entailed the construction and upgrade of the WWTP from a 16mgd to 32mgd capacity plant.

Harry Tracy WTP Long-Term Improvements Project

San Bruno, Calif.

Located in San Bruno, California, the Harry Tracy Water Treatment Plant (HTWTP) Long-term Improvements Project was completed for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC). The HTWTP treats and delivers water stored in the Crystal Springs and San Andreas reservoirs to residents and businesses in North County, and is the San Francisco Peninsula’s sole source of emergency water.

Sugar Land Surface Water Treatment Plant

Sugar Land, Texas

Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) was the electrical subcontractor on the Sugar Land Surface Water Treatment Plant Project. Located on a 40-acre greenfield site, regulatory mandates from county and state levels required the City of Sugar Land, and seventeen surrounding municipalities, to provide 30% of the water supply from surface sources by 2016.
