Milton Academy 192.27 kWP Roof-Mounted Solar Array - Norfolk, Mass.

In April 2012 Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) began installation of a roof-mounted solar system on the Milton Academy ACC Building. The project consists of the design and installation of a 192.27 kWp solar power system. The system will operate parallel to the utility supply, and will offset the amount of daily power sourced by the facility.

The solar system consists of photovoltaic (PV) modules installed into a roof-mounted array, and will be installed using S-5-Z clamps with Renusol VS rails and hardware. The PV array will be connected through two inverters, which will then be connected into the existing utility grid via a bus tap interconnection.

MEC crews identified the 23 degree slanted metal roof as their biggest safety challenge. In addition to working on a steep incline, weather also added to their risk. The electricians plannned their access well, and finished the project safely and as scheduled.
