This design build project involves the transit improvements at the historic Denver Union Station making it a multi-modal transportation hub. Construction, which began in February 2010, includes: an underground bus terminal, an eight-track commuter rail station, plazas, relocation of the light rail station, and street improvements. This multifaceted project covering 40 acres in Denver’s Central Platte Valley will integrate rail and bus service, along with taxis, bicyclist and pedestrians, into a dynamic urban center.

Located on a 40-acre greenfield site, regulatory mandates from county and state levels required the City of Sugar Land, and seventeen surrounding municipalities, to provide 30% of the water supply from surface sources by 2016.

In the spring of 2008, the installation of 528 photovoltaic panels on the roof of a manufacturing building was completed. This solar project is capable of producing 100,320 watts of direct current (DC) power, which is then inverted to approximately 85,000 wat ts of alternating current (AC) at 480 VAC.

T-REX (Transportation Expansion Project) Light Rail

Denver, Colo.

Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) was a subcontractor to Kiewit and the scope of work included the install of the traction electrification (17 traction power substations and 19 miles of double-track overhead catenary), signal system, 100 variable message signs, communications system, and a new Operations Control Center tying in the new and existing LRT lines. This new extension was larger than the entire existing LRT system.

The TRAX Airport Light Rail Project will extend the current TRAX line from the Arena Station, and connect most major Utah sites and destinations to the Salt Lake City International Airport. This new six-mile LRT will provide a direct transfer from the West Station on top of the newly renovated North Temple Viaduct to the FrontRunner Commuter Train – which will eventually connect all commuters from Ogden to Provo.
