MTA Construction of the New 28^th Street Substation

Mass Electric Company (MEC) is preparing to respond to the Invitation to Bid issued by MTA C&D to deliver the Construction of the New 28^th Street Substation (Solicitation No. P36317).  MEC is seeking entities to provide personnel, equipment, and material to assist in constructing an underground power substation for the 8^th Avenue (A/C/E) Line on West 28^th Street.  This project will provide additional power capacity to increase the number of trains per hour in the future and improve power supply reliability along 8^th Avenue.  

The Work consists of the following:

1. Construction of a new two-unit underground substation with all ancillary facilities including ventilation flues, ingress / egress stairways and connections to the tracks; 
2. Furnishing of new substation equipment with all required and associated power, communication, control, supervisory systems, and all associated cabling and hardware;  
3. Relocation of utilities; 
4. Installation of new manholes, property line boxes (PLBs), cable ducts and associated feeder cables; and 
5. Surface restoration Work.

Expected Finish: February 15, 2025
