Mass Electric Construction Co. (MEC) has assembled an integrated systems design-build team to respond to the Request for Proposals scheduled to be issued by the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) for the delivery of the BART Silicon Valley Phase II Program – Contract Package No.1 – Systems Contract. In support of the objectives of VTA, we are committed to engaging the local community by providing access to information and opportunities.

Mass Electric Construction Company (MEC) has assembled an integrated systems design-build team with extensive experience working together on similar complex rail infrastructure projects in tunnel environments, using a complement of innovative and proven design and construction methods.

Mass Electric Company (MEC) Founded in 1928, MEC is the most experienced Systems Design-Builder in North America specializing in the design, integration, procurement, manufacture, installation, testing and commissioning of systems, traction power substations (TPSS), contact rail, power distribution systems, overhead contact systems (OCS), train control, communications, CBTC, SCADA, control centers, tunnel ventilation, and maintenance facilities. MEC has completed over 600 rail systems projects valued at over $5.5 billion for 60 authorities for heavy rail, commuter rail, light rail, streetcars, and freight systems.

Kiewit Engineering Group (KEG) is one of North America’s largest and most respected construction and engineering organizations. For over 135 years, Kiewit’s construction and design engineering professionals have worked on some of the industry’s most complex, challenging and rewarding projects – boring tunnels through mountains, turning rivers into energy, and building bridges that connect communities. KEG leverages the expertise of its design engineers and design-build managers to develop innovative designs, take control of design risk, and optimize design-build delivery to make construction safer and more expeditious.

Our lead contractor and lead engineering firms will be supported by B&C Transit, Inc., Elcon Associates, Inc., UNICO, and Countervail Engineering.

We are also seeking participation from additional firms interested in performing work on the Project.

ON TRACK FOR SUCCESS WORKSHOP SERIES

In collaboration with Kiewit Shea Traylor Joint Venture (KSTJV) and Mass Electric Construction Co. (MEC), Kiewit launched an “On Track for Success” Workshop Series to provide resources, information, and support to local, small, and diverse businesses seeking opportunities on VTA’s BART Phase II contracts.

Workshops were delivered as brief but informative webinars, followed by a question-and-answer period with our subject matter experts.
